Video I found on the net

There are just some video I came across on the net that I like and is thinking of using them as references for my final assessment. As I like the flow and movement in the first video and I love the functionality in the second video.

The only thing is that im going to need to find the audio piece first in order to come up with the final conclusion on how the motion graphic shall be design.

Even though this task on the video tutorial looked easy I actually found it quite difficult to get used of in the beginning and went through many trials and errors to get trackers to not shake during the video. For my graphics I added in the first video I had to rotate the images in 3d to make it fit into the scene.

Audio Keyframes

A very simple task to do but comes out with some interesting results. I find that this technique would be best suited for background elments in a motion graphic.

For fun I decided that I would add some trumpets into the video just to make it more interesting. For the trumpets I used to the scale effect on it and on the lady I just did the rotation effect on the arm and legs.

I was talking to another motion graphics student from a different class and he showed me his audio keyframes and he did the exercise differently. He used particle effects and used the audio keys to change the rotation and scale of it. Amused by what he did I tried to do something similar. I also came across a video on youtube that uses particles sync to the audio.

Temporal Graffiti

Learning to do animated masks was quite easy, but to get them to look good is fussy task to do. I have found that it is best to keep your masks as simple as possible so it becomes less messy when animating them, it mostly get messy towards the end of the mask animation.

Duck and cover

This was quite a fun task to do, it's simple but effective. For this exercise I tried to use some of the text to show a silhouette of an object. When the word "atomic bomb" is mention during the audio I made the bomb out of the text. I also done some angled movement as well as some quick actions as well.

I got some of the ideas from this video:


Such as the "time out" part which has the directors cut board. And using the size of the words to bring out the keywords or strong use of the word in the audio.

While also looking through videos on youtube I came across this video:

which used video footage from fight club and placed typography into the scene. Even though it wasn't done very well the idea is really clever. It is something I will looking into for the final assessment.

Assignment One influences

My main reference that i used for creating the ad is the intro video of the video game Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.



I really liked the use of typography featured in the video. As you will be able to tell I took the zooming out transition that is shown in the video and used it as my primary feature in mine.

For the images I decided that it would appeal better if it was drawn rather than photographs, mostly to keep its colouring and styles the same.

For the typography, I placed them in area to appeal or to compliment the drawings, viewers didn't need to read or understand what it's about as the end of the video justifies its purpose.

The text in the video is actually from Tao Te Ching, chapter 78; it explains the effectiveness of both 'hard' (yin) and 'soft' (yang) techniques, and the value of using 'soft' techniques against even the strongest of opponents.

Cheap Crazy Ad

We were given an exercise with constraints to make a TV commercial that's crazy. I took influences from Crazy Clarks and ads like Rivers. I also looked into some American Ads just for some inspirations.
